West Fargo Main Ave Reconstruction Project Work Begins

Project Update for: Main Avenue, West Fargo

project details

April 2, 2012

Today, West Fargo Main Ave reconstruction start first phases of project work, weather permitting the following will begin:

  • Beginning Monday, the frontage road north of Main Avenue between 45th Street and 12th Street East, and south of Main Avenue between 12th Street and Fifth Street, will be patched up to handle extra traffic.
  • Early this week – likely Tuesday – Main Avenue just west of 45th Street will be directed into two lanes for about a block.

The next impact to traffic won’t occur until Saturday when the entire stretch of the 1.35 mile reconstruction project, will go down to one lane in each direction and Main Avenue will close. Traffic will be redirected along the frontage roads, crossing from the north side of the avenue to the south side at 12th Street.

Speeds will be reduced to 25 mph throughout the construction zone.

The scope of work for 2012 includes the complete reconstruction of Main Avenue between 6th St E and 45th St., including removal of most of the frontage road.

The need for the proposed reconstruction of Main Avenue is driven by a number of deficiencies along the project corridor. These include deteriorated pavement, poor intersection geometrics, uncontrolled access, inadequate drainage and a lack of pedestrian/bicycle facilities.
