Project Update for: 7th Ave N Bridge Over I-29

project details

June 14, 2012

The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) – Fargo District – would like to update the traveling public on the 7th Avenue North overpass bridge project. Starting tomorrow evening, Friday June 15 at 10PM, the following will occur:

  • All lanes of traffic on I-29 will temporary close in both the northbound and southbound direction from Main Ave. to 12th Ave. N.
  • Traffic will be detoured off the interstate from Main Ave. to 12th Ave. N. and be rerouted, head-to-head, on the area streets of 35th St. NW. and 36th St. N.:
  • When traveling northbound on I-29, motorists will be detoured by exiting the interstate at Main Ave. They will be re-routed to 36th St. N. (interstate frontage road) where they will cross over 7th Ave. N. and then continue on to 35th St. NW. Motorists will take a left on 12th Ave. N. and reenter I-29 northbound via the ramp.
  • When traveling southbound on I-29, motorists will be detoured by exiting the interstate at 12th Ave. N. They will be directed to turn left on 12th Ave. N. and continue to 35th St. NW. Motorists will take a right on 35th St. NW. where they will cross over 7th Ave. N. and continue on the 26th St. N frontage road.  Motorists will turn right on Main Ave. and reenter I-29 southbound via the ramp.

This closed stretch of I-29 will reopen to traffic by 5AM on Saturday, June 16.

Phase 1B traffic control will go back into place and the inside and median lanes will be open for interstate travel throughout the work zone.

The closure is due to project needs for the 7th Ave. N. bridge reconstruction. Crews will be setting new bridge beams over the interstate and installing the safety canopy for the bridge during this temporary interstate closure.

The traveling public should use caution when driving through the construction zone. Motorists should allow for extra time when navigating through the temporary detour and expect delays.
