Northbound and southbound I-29 lane closures to change

Project Update for: 7th Ave N Bridge Over I-29

project details

May 16, 2012

The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) – Fargo District – would like to update the traveling public on the 7th Avenue North overpass bridge project. Starting today, May 16, current lane closures on I-29 will shift to accommodate 7th Ave. N. overpass project needs and the following will occur:

  • Starting at 8PM - northbound 1-29 (from south of Main Ave. to 12th Ave N.) will be reduced to one lane of traffic. Crews will be working in the median and center lane of the interstate on 7th Ave. N. bridge removal.
  • Once removal of the bridge deck is complete, traffic will be opened back up to two lanes (inside and median lanes) for the morning commute. The outside lane of I-29 will now be closed to traffic.

The southbound lane shifts will occur in the same steps as above. This work will begin tomorrow, Thursday, May 17, at 8PM and two lanes of traffic (inside and median lanes) will be open for motorists for Friday travel.

Motorists should be aware of trucks and equipment entering and exiting the work zone throughout the evenings on the interstate and obey posted speed limits.

The project is currently in phase 1B and the 7th Ave. N. overpass is closed for reconstruction. A link to phase 1B detour map can be found here: MAP
