7th Avenue N overpass closes

Project Update for: 7th Ave N Bridge Over I-29

project details

May 13, 2012

The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) – Fargo District – would like to update the traveling public on the 7th Avenue North overpass bridge project. Starting Monday, May 14, the project will shift to phase 1B and closure of the 7th Ave. N. bridge to traffic will occur.

Monday crews begin to remove the 7th Ave. N. bridge deck to improve the condition of the driving surface and begin widening the bridge for construction of a multi-use path across the interstate. This project work will require the following to occur around 7th Ave. N.:

  • Intersections on each side of the 7th Ave. N. bridge will close - 36the St. N. to 38th/39th St. N.
  • Detours will re-direct the traveling public to use 35th St. NW to 12th Ave. N. and 40th St. N. to 12th Ave. N.

Interstate lane closures are needed for the continuation of the deck removal of 7th Ave. N. The northbound and southbound median lanes (inside lanes) on I-29 will remain closed. The interstate lane closures begin south of Main Ave. for the northbound lane and north of 12th Ave. for the southbound lane. There will continue to be lane closure shifts on the interstate as needed with project work.

Motorists should be aware of trucks and equipment entering and exiting the work zone on the interstate and obey posted speed limits. Traffic congestion may occur at merging points and motorists may experience brief delays. Weather dependent, work will continue through Oct. 2012.
