August 26 Construction impacting back-to-school traffic
Fargo, N.D. — The North Dakota Department of Transportation would like to remind students and parents to practice safe travel in and near construction zones.
NDDOT construction projects currently being worked on are: 45th Street Interchange, 10th Street at the Main Avenue underpass, I-29 north of County Road 20 and bridge work on I-29 between the I-94 interchange and Main Avenue.
Schools near 45th Street South and I-94 will be affected by the 45th Street interchange project. Motorists should expect reduced speeds along both 45th Street and I-94 and allow for extra time to reach their destination.
Motorists travelling to schools using 10th Street by the Main Avenue underpass should plan ahead for delays and alternate routes. Traffic is detoured west on 1st Avenue South, north on University Drive, east on N.P. Avenue, north on 8th Street and west on 1st Avenue North back to 10th Street. Crews are anticipating to open one lane on 10th Street through the underpass just before Labor Day weekend.
Students and parents using I-29 between I-94 and Main Avenue or County Road 20 and Argusville should expect delays as projects progress. Speed limits are reduced and lane closures are in effect throughout the construction zones.
All motorists should expect roads to be congested with back-to-school traffic for a while until some thoroughfares are opened upon completion of construction.
Twelfth Avenue North near NDSU is open with minor landscaping projects still in progress.
All motorists are asked to slow down and allow extra time to reach their destinations. For more information on road construction projects, visit NDDOTFargo.com.
